Emily de Molly August Collection (Part 1 of 2) - Swatch & Review

I was asked by the lovely Hayley of Emily de Molly to swatch the August 2018 7-piece collection.

The collection is a varied mix, with polishes ranging from thermals, magnetics, holos, and flakies... What they have in common is that they are all stunning, and as always, apply perfectly with a  2-coat formula.

I am breaking up the post into 2 parts because of the picture-heavy nature of swatches! This post will contain: Ashes From Flames, Dancing Through Sunday, Memories of Midnight, and Positive Contact.

Part 2 will cover Right of Passage, Subdued Delights, and The Maze and the Hightower. You can view it here.

Ashes From Flames - An olive brown holo with golden shimmer and silver holo micro glitters. (LIMITED TO ONE LARGE BATCH)

I love this one on my skin tone! (I'm a medium-tan with a strong yellow undertone). The shimmer is a brassy gold that leans almost green in some light.

Dancing Through Sunday - A periwinkle blue with orange to green iridescent flakes, aurora pigment and silver holo micro glitters.

Hello magic! That cornflower colour is a standout, and the rainbow of colours the flakes reflect are dizzyingly mesmerising. I did need 2 layers of top coat for this.

Memories Of Midnight - A purple filled with blue chrome flakes and metallic blue micro glitters. (LIMITED TO ONE LARGE BATCH)

The base in this one shifts slightly magenta in the right light. With 1 layer of top coat I feel slight bumps from the micro glitters, but mostly the surface is smooth.

I had a hunch this polish was going to be gorgeous matte, so after applying a matte top coat I made a transfer using a nail vinyl on a silicone mat. I used Emily de Molly's Gold Light of Day, which is a gold holo with a pink shimmer, for both the transfer and the dots. The middle finger has a glossy top coat, the rest of the fingers are matte.

Positive Contact - A dark rose gold foil magnetic with blue to purple shifting shimmer.

I don't own ANYTHING like this beauty. It is a complex polish that has a different feel in different lighting. The particles that are moved by the magnet look golden-yellow. I used a ring magnet for these photos - you can see more information about that here.

The macro was created with the normal 'bar' magnet Emily de Molly sells for those who want to see what it looks like with it.
